Pierbrug 2BE to Weber DMTL carburetor conversion kit.
If you own a 1983 - 1988 BMW 316 (1.766cc) with an aging Pierburg 2BE carburetor, then you are probably very well aware of the fact that these carburetors are slowly reaching the end of their working life and that refurbishing them is not really an option.
Fuel consumption will go up, power will go down and trying to set the idle speed will become a major challenge and all that while parts have become virtually unobtainable.
Luckily, you are not alone so the people at Weber set to work and have created this conversion kit.
With this set, the complete carburetor gets replaced with a brand new 2-stage Weber 32/34 DMTL carburetor with manual choke.
The kits comprises all required parts to complete this conversion, amongst other an adapter plate to fit the DMTL onto the original inlet manifold, a choke cable kit, an airfilter adapter which will allow you to re-use your original BMW airfilter housing on the new carburetor and all other require parts to complete the conversion.
So, this conversion will also replace the original Pierburg choke mechanism with a much more reliable hand-operated cable.
As this kit is intended specifically for the 1.766cc BMW engine, it is already jetted to suit the needs of that engine in standard form.
Also of importance is that this kit is specifically for these engines combined with an automatic gearbox.
Should your car be equipped with a manual gearbox, then please use THIS KIT.
The various jets to fine-tune this carburetor to your personal taste and the displacement / power output of your engine, can be found on the Weber DMTL page.
The carburetor is a genuine Weber, made in Spain in Weber's own factory while the conversion parts are produced in the UK.
This is Weber Part Number: 22670.926 / 2267092600
Please note that as these engines are shared between the BMW 316 and BMW 518, this kit fits both cars.
